Presentation by canpo was made on non-profit general liability insurance to protect board members and the association from being sued. Policy includes intentional and negligent acts and liquor liability. Limits are $2 million per policy year and $1 million per claim. Annual cost is estimated at $800-900 and based on the number of events that the BPNA is involved with. Judy moved and R. Phelps 2nd to spend up to $1000 for a 1 year general liability insurance policy through canpo. Friendly amendment was added to exclude the $1000 limit. Motion carried 9-0-0.
David T. Moved and David M. 2nd the addition of Ron Piscitelli to the board. Motion carried 12-0-0 (with Eric and Joleen's proxies). Johnny K. Asked and R. Piscitelli agreed to chair or co-chair a liquor license committee.
Johnny K. Moved to accept the minutes from 7/7/04, 2nd by David m. Motion carried 6-0-4 (four board members not present @ meeting).
2030 Larimer-andrew toole and donnie danesh are opening scruffy murp hy's, an irish pub. They have applied for a tavern and accoustic cabaret licenses (no dancing). Hearing 9/9/04 @ 9am. They agreed to sign a good neighbor agreement and attach it to their lease. Hours of operation: tu-sat (su & mon on game days) 3pm-close. They asked for BPNA to support their application. After andrew & donnie left Judy moved and R. Phelps 2nd that upon signing a gna we support their application. Motion carried 10-0-0.
2233 Larimer-Gary fielder and matthew smith spoke about their application for manny's smokehouse's hotel & restaurant and dance cabaret licenses. They are adding insulation to the walls and will not have outside speakers. Bands will perform near the front door away from the patio and premier lofts. They will be open from 11am-midnight. They plan to have an awning and enclosure over the patio from oct-april. They are in the process of signing a gna. Diane porter from the premier lofts was present and voiced her concerns about an alley gate for residents to use. She prefered that all patrons enter and exit via the front door.
2020 Lawrence-John wergenberger asked for BPNA to support his hotel & restaurant and dance cabaret license application for impulse productions. Board members voiced their concerns about noise from a rooftop eating area. John agreed to sign a gna and attach it to his lease. He plans on building a sound barrier between the seating area and the rest of the roof to help diffuse sound. They will be open from 11am to 10pm.
After all guests left a motion was made by Johnny K. And 2nd by R. Phelps to support manny's smokehouse's application and encourage them to make the outside awning be a year round addition. Motion carried 9-0-0 (Johnny s. Gave Judy his proxy).
A motion was also made by? And 2nd by David T. To support the impulse theatre for their license applications and also encourage them to install a year round canopy over their roof top seating area. Motion carried 8-0-1 (Judy abstained)
David T made a motion. And 2nd by Judy to oppose the premise modification asking for an outside seating area at whiskey bar at 2203 Larimer st. Discussion brought up the existing problems that had not been corrected over a several month period. Motion carried 7-0-1.
Buskerfest-BPNA booth made $35 in tips plus beer sales for an approximate total of $70.
LoDo Music Fest brought in $2328 and approximately an additional $390 in tips.
Legal expenses: Bryan Barnes sent in his pledge for $500. $3400 mailed to lawyers.
Johnny K made a motion. And 2nd by ron ? That BPNA gets an events liquor license and holds the autumn fest on oct 9th during the daylight hours (ending at 5pm). It will cost approximately $2225 for the chili cookoff and whatever profits come from the beer booth will go to BPNA. Denver firefighters will be tied into the event.
Mary mentioned another fundraiser is the okteberfest in Larimer square. Johnny K. Moved and R. Phelps 2nd that BPNA uses our 501-c-3 non-profit statuses to operate some booth and raise money at okteberfest. Motion carried 7-0-1.
R. Phelps moved and R. Piscatelli 2nd that the meeting adjourns. Motion carried 8-0-0.
