Max is telling people and looking for volunteers. Amy S won't be available since Ballpark market is that Saturday. Eric will have sign up sheets at general membership meeting on 5/19/04 and will ask people to work 3-hour shifts.
Max is e-mailing the board minutes for faster corrections.
Legal Fund
Stadium Lofts has sent $250 and that brings the total to approximately $3500. There are still pledges due for $500 from Ballpark Lofts (Brian Barnes). David T still needs to mail the funds to the lawyers.
Lindsey Larson asked if the BPNA would like to run a beer garden at the Larimer st. Market ten Saturdays throughout their season (every sat 8am-1pm through Oct 16th). We provide special events permit, beer & staffing. They will provide (at no charge) the booth, tents, tables and a fenced space defining the beer consumption area. They would also work with other non-profits to see how it works.
The focus group also wants to have the alley (between their two half blocks) vacated by The City. According to Lindsey, they wanted to do it now because it will be more difficult later, and they want to develop the whole property.
The Public Relations Committee reported:
- They need a logo for correspondence and member ad copy.
- They need a master mailing list.
- They want to have a weekly press release of events in the area. Johnny K suggested the Downtown Denver News.
- They are working on an area map/poster and business list. Map will start at 20th St. going north and including Broadway (Brighton Blvd?) And Coors Field parking. Amy H And Joleen will have a proposal and request for BPNA funds at next board meeting after is getting printing costs from Ken's reproduction and others.
- Distributing a mass mailer with coupons, promotions and a map.
- Jeffrey sent Joleen the folder on the banners.
- Next PR meeting @ 2pm Friday @ McClain Finlon.
Amy H is working on a September 20th golf tournament for the Colorado Youth At Risk in connection with Manual HS. She wondered if BPNA would like to be a sponsor. Max suggested that we earmark a portion of the proceeds from the LoDo Music Fest for sponsorship.
John Burr, from the Walnut Room @3131 Walnut St, gave a presentation on their band rehearsal studios and office space. They added 10,000 sq ft for additional studio space and 3,200 sq ft is for a restaurant, bar, and music venue for newer, less well-known bands. Applied for tavern and dance cabaret license. The hearing is may 26th. Upper Larimer Neighborhood Association supports the plan and is working on a good neighbor agreement. He asked for our support. Judy moved and Johnny K seconded, that BPNA deferred to ULNA regarding the liquor license application for 3131 Walnut St. Motion carries 9-0-0.
Amy Harman expressed interest in being on the board. She has a new assistant and wants to be more involved in the neighborhood association. Discussion included the lack of attendance by Chuck and Malia, and the need for board members being more involved in the organization. Johnny K Said that Malia was very involved in the arts committee but was having a difficult time making board meetings.
The consensus is that Malia might want to be on the committee without being on the board. Johnny K wondered if we were just adding board members, or are the new people interested in being on committees? In addition to her work on the PR committee, Amy H might be interested in the transportation committee. Johnny K moved to add Amy H to the board. Ron 2nd. Motion carried 9-0-0.
Amy H moved and Amy S seconded that we donate 10% up to $500 from the proceeds of the LoDo music Fest for sponsorship of the Colorado youth at risk golf tournament. Discussion; Judy-previously we haven't donated to other non-profits. Johnny K Suggested co youth @ risk run the beer booth @ Larimer st. Market. Motion carried 10-0-0.

Judy moved, Eric seconded that we do not pursue the beer booth in the Larimer St. Market at this time. Eric thought that it was too much work and liability and that we didn't want to use our non-profit status for this event. Motion carried 10-0-0.
Johnny S moved to oppose the alley vacation (24th, Larimer, Walnut and Park Ave West). Mary seconded. Ron thirded. Johnny S said we did not have enough information and that it is a premature application. Max said there is a short amount of time to oppose (by may 26th).
