Sean Markey, MD


Dr Sean Markey

Sean Markey, M.D. has centered his career on the treatment of neurosurgical patients. Dr. Markey earned his medical degree in 1997 from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center where he also completed his surgical internship and neurosurgery residency. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado in 1993. Dr. Markey received his board certification from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons in 2002 and is an active member of the Western Neurosurgical Society.

An accomplished researcher and presenter, he frequently hosts lectures to medical groups on various neurosurgery topics. With his outstanding skills and ability to put patients at ease, Dr. Markey is quickly establishing a reputation as one of the finest neurosurgeons in the area.

Dr. Markey gained national attention for successfully removing a 3-1/4 inch nail from construction worker Patrick Lawler’s skull in January 2005. He presently serves as the medical director of Neurosurgery at Littleton Adventist Hospital.


J. Adair Prall, MD


Dr J. Adair Prall

Board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 2001, J. Adair Prall, M.D., is a leader in his field with more than 14 years of neurosurgical experience. His neurosurgical interests include complex cervical surgery, and neuroncology, with training under Dr. Glenn Kindt and Dr. Kevin Lilihei at the University of Colorado, as well as trigeminal neuralgia, for which he trained with Dr. John Tew in Cincinnati.

Dr. Prall earned his Bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in 1986 and his medical degree from The University of Cincinnati in 1991. He began his career as a clinical professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1997. Prior to joining South Denver Neurosurgery in 2004, Dr. Prall practiced at Intermountain Neurosurgery and Neuroscience.

An accomplished writer, Dr. Prall has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, including contributions to The Journal of Trauma and Neurosurgery. Additionally, he is an active member of national organizations including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, as well as the Rocky Mountain Neurosurgical Society, the Colorado Medical Society and the Colorado Neurosurgical Society. He presently serves as vice-president of the Colorado Neurological Society, and serves on the Executive Committee of the Joint Section of Trauma and Critical Care for the AANS and the CNS. He has been a delegate for Colorado neurosurgeons to the Council of State Neurosurgical Society for the last four years.

Dr. Prall is married with two boys and enjoys hiking 14ers, skiing and birding.
